Your First Visit - What to Expect
Astrid will begin by taking a full case history, discussing your current problem and previous health history. A full examination of your spine and other areas relevant to your complaint will then be performed. This often involves postural, structural, neurological, orthopaedic and motion testing.
With the help of models and illustrations Astrid will explain to you the problem you have and will discuss your options and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
If it is considered that your problem is unlikely to respond to chiropractic treatment then you will be referred to your GP.
What can I expect when I see a chiropractor - written by the General Chiropractic Council provides an informative guide on what will happen during your first appointment.
Most patients will also be treated on their first visit unless scans or X-ray examinations are required. This involves a program of gentle and specific spinal adjustments or manipulations, work on the muscles, ligaments and joints and other methods that Astrid considers suitable for your condition.
Your first appointment will last around 45 minutes. Regular or follow-up appointments are normally completed within 15 minutes.
All treatments and consultations are carried out in our private treatment room. There is no need to remove clothing or change into a gown for your treatment and you are welcome to bring a spouse or friend with you.
